Inspiring Excellence in Triathlon Since 1980

Who We Are

The Bermuda Triathlon Association (BTA) is the National Governing Body for triathlon in Bermuda. We represent Bermuda as members of the World Triathlon and CAMTRI (Americas Triathlon), promoting excellence in triathlon, duathlon, and related multisport disciplines.

From grassroots development to supporting elite athletes, we strive to make triathlon accessible to all while fostering a community of passionate multisport enthusiasts.

The BTA is listed on World Triathlon’s national federations directory (Bermuda Triathlon Association).

The BTA is a Bermuda registered charity (No. 416).

Our Mission

To promote and develop the sport of triathlon in Bermuda by providing opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to participate and excel in triathlon, duathlon, and aquathlon events.

Elite Success

Bermuda has produced world-class triathletes, including Olympic gold medalist Flora Duffy and professional long-distance triathlete Tyler Butterfield, inspiring the next generation.

Youth Development

Our TriHedz program introduces young athletes to triathlon in a fun, safe environment, developing skills, confidence, and fitness while nurturing future champions.

Event Organization

We organize and sanction triathlon events throughout the year, from beginner-friendly races to international competitions, providing opportunities for all levels.

Season highlights — AGM 2025

From the president’s report to the 44th AGM: a full stretch of activity from 2023/24 through 2025 — busy even without an Olympic year.

  • Roughly 26 events in the year, just over 200 members, and heavy reliance on volunteers — the backbone of the BTA.
  • Five formal local events, Carifta qualifiers, Home Events on public holidays (Good Friday, Heroes Day, Labour Day), Thursday Night Super Sprint racing in summer, and new Splash & Dash aquathlons at Cambridge Beaches.
  • Blake/Neil senior camp (early season), the annual junior summer camp with visiting coach Michael Harlow, a Carifta triathlon preparation camp (August) with Harlow — partly supported by the NJASP award — plus the annual awards function.
  • Seniors in 70.3 and Ironman events worldwide; elites Erica Hawley, Tyler Smith, and Nick Pilgrim at the World Triathlon Grand Final in Wollongong, Australia; and a strong junior pathway, with elites tied to the junior group and Bermudian juniors increasingly competitive in the region.
  • Partnerships with BOA, the Ministry of Youth & Sport, World Triathlon, Commonwealth triathlon bodies, BSADA, and BLMC (Clearwater landlords; lease through 2029).
  • 2026: CAC Games (Dominican Republic, August) — three athletes already qualified; Youth Olympic Games (Dakar, November) — six juniors seeking qualification. 2027: Pan American Games (Lima) and Junior Commonwealth Games (Malta). 2028: Los Angeles — elite Olympic qualification points from May 2025.
